New Delhi: The Supreme Court has dismissed a plea by private hospital managements in Kerala that sought a stay on the state government's order on minimum wages for nurses. The apex court rejected the managements' claim that the functioning of hospitals will be adversely affected if the government order providing for higher wages to nurses is implemented. The Supreme Court order on Monday came from the vacation bench headed by justice A M Khanwilkar. The plea was opposed by the United Nurses Association in the court. Earlier, a division bench of the Kerala high court had also dismissed the same plea by the private hospital managements. The counsel for the Kerala government apprised the court that its order conformed to the norms on Minimum Wages Act.
