The Intelligence Bureau has briefed Karnataka Chief Minister and Deputy Chief Minister regarding the menace of illegal immigrants in Bengaluru, Times Now has reported. The brief includes the fact that such illegal immigrants have landed in jobs as security personnel on Namma Metro. This comes three days after Times Now had aired a sting operation showing infiltration of illegal immigrants in Bengaluru.
“We have informed the agencies as well to verify the same and ensure that maximum locals are hired,” a metro official told Times Now. An illegal government ID racket is allegedly helping illegal immigrants to turn into Indian nationals. Last month, the Home Minister of India had said that action would be taken against illegal immigrants in Karnataka.
The issue of illegal immigrants has become a national issue after the national register of citizens (NRC) was released in the state of Assam. There have been demands to conduct NRC in several parts of India.
West Bengal chief minister and Trinamool Congress leader Mamata Banerjee has criticised the final draft of Assam’s National Register of Citizens (NRC) for not including 40 lakh people. Banerjee has attacked the BJP government at the centre accusing it of ‘vote politics’.
